I am a contemporary landscape artist based in the South Downs, UK.
I studied fine art at college before researching the philosophy of art and aesthetics at university: exploring ideas in theory and in practice...
Working predominantly in oils, I make expressive, semi abstract images inspired by the elemental landscape, the meeting of earth, air and water. My paintings are an attempt to evoke the energy created by immersion in the natural world. I work alla prima, building layers and working into the paint as the composition emerges in a bid to capture the transient atmosphere of a place and moment in time. I also make mixed media sketches and studies in watercolour, graphite, charcoal and Indian ink.
I am proud to be a member of The New Art Rebellion, a global platform supporting emerging artists, and Sussex based art group Burgess Hill Artists.
