I am a contemporary landscape artist based in the South Downs, near Lewes, East Sussex.

I studied fine art at college before exploring the philosophy of aesthetics and literature as a postgraduate. My paintings are an attempt to combine my passions for painting and literature, taking inspiration from the downland, cliffs and sea of my local area and further afield, as well as from evocative fictional landscapes: Shakespeare's mysterious heath and tempestuous seas, Bronte's wild moors, Du Maurier's epic coastline...

Working predominantly in oils, I make expressive, semi-abstract images of big skies and wild spaces. My alla prima compositions are informed by gesturalism: an attempt to express the emotions evoked by immersion in the wilderness, real or imagined. I also make abstracted drawings in graphite and charcoal.

I am proud to be a member of Burgess Hill Artists, an eclectic Sussex based group, and The New Art Rebellion, an online platform supporting global emerging artists.
