I am a contemporary landscape painter based in Lewes, UK. My alla prima paintings are expressionist in style, abstracting the landscape through bold brushstrokes and intense colours: an attempt to capture the light and atmosphere of a particular place and moment by working intuitively, building layers and working into the paint until the final composition emerges. I studied fine art at college before researching the philosophy of art and aesthetics at university: exploring ideas in theory and in practise. I work predominantly in oils on canvas; I also make sketches and studies in charcoal, Indian ink and graphite. I am proud to be a member of the New Art Rebellion, a global art collective supporting emerging artists instagram/TheNewArtRebellion, and Burgess Hill Artists, an eclectic Sussex based group: www.burgesshillartists.co.uk In 2020 I was excited to be shortlisted in the Sketches for Survival "Wild Spaces" category.
